PRICE HISTORY

(updates every 15 mins)

The Watcher

A black void. A gaze. A symbol.

Each edition of The Watcher is hand-drawn and painted using graphite, gesso, and Black 4.0 — the darkest acrylic on Earth. It absorbs almost all light, creating the illusion of infinite depth. The result is a surface that looks less like paint and more like absence itself.

Each piece is subtly unique — a trace of the artist’s hand, a slight imperfection, a variation in gesture. No two are exactly alike. Every one is original.

The Value of Belief

With each acquisition, the price of The Watcher doubles, increasing the value of every prior edition.

The first sold for £62.
The fifteenth will sell for £1,015,808.

This isn't just a painting — it's a system of belief.
Each collector enters into a shared act of speculation, trust, and participation in a living artwork.

Authorship & Identity

This is not a work by Anish Kapoor (b. 1954).
It is a conceptual artwork by Stuart Semple, who legally changed his name to Anish Kapoor in 2024 as part of this performance.

Each painting is signed A. Kapoor and accompanied by:

  • A Certificate of Authenticity, and

  • A facsimile copy of the legal name change deed

Terms
  • Limit: one per order — multiple editions must be purchased in separate transactions.

  • Price doubles automatically after each sale.

  • No resale permitted for 3 years.
The artist’s studio retains a first right of refusal if resale is requested.
