Stuart has created a handful of original paintings (Studies) after his iconic public sculpture for the city of Denver 'I should be crying but I just can't let it show'
The original piece deals with the idea that although the external world or environment can put pressure on us from every side true happiness is an internal state. And that perhaps faking a smile under pressure isn't always the best mechanism to cope.
This series of original works on paper by Stuart sees his conceptional development of different ways pressure can be applied to his distinct smiley.
