About the work
This multiple deals with concepts of online virtue signalling, cancel culture and fame in the digital age. It invites us to question our relationship to rumours, gossip and their impact on others.
Stuart Semple is well known for his controversial social commentary. Having produced paint from the Blood of Gay men to protest an outdated FDA ban.
His Hostile Design project raised awareness and change around public furniture that discriminated against homeless sleepers.
He has spent the last decade creating and sharing game-changing art materials to support and encourage artistic access, often ‘liberating’ colours that have been privatised by individuals or brands.
He has worked tirelessly on the ultimate artist masking tape to eradicate blurred lines and bleeding.
Before he shares that material with artists, he has decided to use it as a poignant piece of art aimed at instigating a dialogue around the impact of sexual images and exploitation online.

Based on an original work on paper made with SEX tape.
Each is hand printed on Saunders Waterford paper and will have its unique defects.
The box is a high-quality lithographic print on heavyweight card. Stuart will hand spray paint each box using bright red acrylic spraypaint.
The tape itself is a custom-designed masking tape for artists, which stuart has created to be the most perfect masking tape in the world for artists. Each custom roll carries the SEX branding on its cardboard core.
